Piano Tuning
Your piano, if looked after, is an asset; it will be with you for a very long time and should therefore be cared for.
How often should my piano be tuned?
Piano tuning (or servicing) should be carried out at least twice a year; this will maintain the piano at concert pitch and in good order. The environment in which the piano lives will affect the piano greatly. For example, if there are fluctuations in temperature, hot in the day and cold in the evening you may find the piano tuning wandering. If possible try to maintain the temperature in which the piano lives. The tuning will be more stable in this environment. A constant 18 to 21 degrees Celsius (65 – 70 degrees Fahrenheit) would be ideal.
Humidity is also an issue – ideally you should try to keep your piano within 45 – 60 per cent relative humidity.
